Core Values
1. Compassion : this is our first and fundamental value. We imitate our compassionate God. We are moved by and empathize with the suffering and exclusion of others, and are motivated to act to transform that reality.
2. Human Dignity : we embrace the absolute respect for the dignity of every human person, made in the image and likeness of God, as core principle. Human dignity is a cornerstone of Catholic Social Teaching, which guides and illuminates our whole mission.
3. Service : key to our identity as a development organ of the Jesuit fathers is service to the most vulnerable, primarily through action, rather than words. We commit ourselves to coherent and professional service to the highest human standards.
4. Accountability and Transparency : these values are not alien to Christian service. We will be exemplary in demonstrating stewardship of the resources entrusted to us and we will expect the same of those with whom we work.
5. Option for the Poor : the poor will come first in our planning and priorities; they should be a fundamental focus of our theological reflection and are the source of our spirituality.
6. Collaboration : we choose to work in close and respectful partnerships with women and men who share our vision and are drawn to our Ignatian ideals.
7. Discernment : we recognize the complexity of the world and will seek fuller and deeper truth in dialogue, rather than give way to oversimplified slogans.
8. Awareness-raising : authentically communicating our experiences of the lives of the poor and our analyses of their struggles is the basis of the mission and development education we undertake to foster solidarity and a spirituality of justice.
9. We Work for the Greater Glory of God : we recognize our work is part of the universal evangelizing mission of the Society of Jesus and the whole Church. We shall seek to live out with integrity that communion and that subsidiarity.
